| There are few things that truly distinguish a medical center. Its standard of care. Its respect for patients. And perhaps, most importantly, its staff. When we selected our staff of over
4,000 members, we handpicked them not only for their experience and skill, but for their compassion and concern. Our staff includes nurses,
physicians from many medical
and professional disciplines, technicians, therapists, education specialists,
and hundreds of dedicated
volunteers.
While our state-of-the-art equipment and facilities help us attract the region's finest healthcare professionals, our
environment encourages daily collaboration and teamwork. Our staff works together as a cohesive team focused on the art of patient care. Such an innovative approach to medicine ensures more accurate diagnoses and faster recoveries.
Lexington Medical Center has long been associated with high-quality patient care. But you may not realize we're also a leader in implementing high-tech diagnostic and therapeutic tools.
To ensure our cancer patients have convenient access to the most current treatment options, we offer S.C.'s most powerful Linear Accelerator. This unique tool delivers precise amounts of radiation to even the smallest tumors and with fewer side effects. Our
Cancer Program also boasts the region's most experienced
radiologists and
pathologists devoted to curing a disease that claims over 500,000 Americans per year.
With our recent expansion, we offer 21 state-of-the-art, fully equipped operating rooms, plus additional rooms for endoscopy and cystoscopy which allow surgeons to examine the most delicate tissues.
In addition, we house the most powerful
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner available today, which uses intense magnetic fields to clearly image virtually any part of the human body. And our Special Procedures Suite accommodates many intricate vascular procedures including laser angiography to clear blocked arteries without surgery or a lengthy recovery.
When we opened our doors in 1971, we pledged to treat our patients as individuals, and provide the special services necessary for their complete care. This is no more evident than in the area of
Women's Services, where Lexington Medical Center has introduced many services to the Midlands. For example, in maternity services we were first to offer birthing suites and first to invite fathers to participate in the birthing experience.
We were also the first area hospital to feature midwives and
Doulas to assist parents during delivery. And we also offer a wealth of maternity classes.
In addition to our large nursery, our Special Care nursery nurtures our most delicate newborns. To help parents answer the many questions that arise once they return home, we provide a free educational video at discharge, plus a 24-hour direct line to our nurses.
To ensure continuity in women's care, we provide education on a variety of topics such as menopause and breast cancer. But our special services are not limited to women. We also offer a complete
cardiac rehabilitation program, advanced laboratory services and one of S.C.'s largest
emergency departments.
While we welcome you as a Lexington Medical Center patient, our ultimate goal is to help you avoid a hospital stay. For more than 25 years, Lexington Medical Center has been a leader in
health education. Throughout our region, we sponsor health fairs, on-site health programs for companies, and trade shows - all emphasizing the importance of early detection when combating illness. To underscore this message, we offer free services at these events such as screenings for cholesterol, blood sugar and and blood pressure assessments.
Through our
Health Directions Program, we provide a complete array of health and wellness classes like aerobics, weight management, and healthy cooking, plus ongoing seminars from smoking cessation to menopause. Educational programs such as these allow us to reach an even greater number of people in our community and promote the healthy lifestyles that lead to longer lives. |
