Carroll Campbell:
A Profile in Courage

In the fall of 2001, Governor Carroll Campbell, revealed to the citizens of South Carolina that he had been diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. Upon revealing his medical condition, Campbell exhibited the same personal tenacity and heroic demeanor that made him such a stalwart leader for our state.

Lexington Medical Center is truly honored that such a prestigious South Carolinian as Governor Carroll Campbell agreed to lend his name to the Alzheimer's care center. It is in the spirit of this courageous leader that Lexington Medical Center dedicates its facility to treat Alzheimer's disease with compassion, care and most importantly, with an eye toward enhanced treatment.

With the support of contributors like you, Lexington Medical Center has realized the completion of Carroll Campbell Place as South Carolina's premier treatment center for Alzheimer's disease. This innovative facility stands as a testament to the legacy of Carroll Campbell and enables others to fight Alzhemier's disease in the same heroic manner of Campbell.

"......As you might imagine, I have tried to learn as much as I could about this disease. I am amazed at the progress that medical science is making. I am confident that this disease can be conquered.  That gives me hope. I pray that my hope in these circumstances can uplift the many people in our state and country similarly afflicted."
