On-site Health Library

A Valuable Resource for Patients and Professionals

Our In-House Health Library, located in the North Tower of our West Columbia location, is a comprehensive resource center of health and wellness information. It houses approximately 1,000 books and 500 audiovisual titles.

The library contains patient-care resources in the clinical areas of the medical and nursing specialties, subspecialties and allied health.

Information can be reviewed, copied or printed on-site. Or, you can request information by phone.

Health Source Plus

The hallmark of the Health Library, this consumer health database helps the lay patient find answers to personal health questions. Health Source Plus provides coverage of medical sciences, psychology, nutrition, childcare, sports medicine, health care law and general health, including:

  • Nearly 1000 health-related pamphlets
  • Over 260 full-text journals
  • Nearly 25 health research books

The library also subscribes to approximately 200 journals, including the following cancer-related journals:

Research Services

The library provides the following research services:

“On-Request” Information

Our dedicated staff works tirelessly to search on-request published literature, locate resources and distribute the information they have acquired. Normally, this process takes three to 10 working days, but when the request is in regard to a clinical emergency, relevant material may be faxed within 2 hours.

Free Access to MEDLINE

In addition, we offer free access through the Web to MEDLINE via the PubMed database, which is maintained by the National Library of Medicine.

Subscribe to Database CINAHL

The library subscribes to the electronic database Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL).
