Nursing Scholarships

Auxiliary Nursing Scholarships

The Lexington Medical Center Auxiliary is accepting financial assistance applications for those attaining and enhancing nursing education at a variety of levels.

Scholarship Opportunities

Medhurst, Norton, and Telfer Scholarships

$2,000 each. Awarded to high school seniors who reside in Lexington County and plan to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

Requirements

  • Completed application
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Essay
  • High school transcript with GPA, class rank, and SAT or ACT scores

Ann Bethea Scholarships

$1,000 each. Awarded to high school seniors who reside in Lexington County and plan to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

Requirements

  • Completed application
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Essay
  • High school transcript with GPA, class rank, and SAT or ACT scores

Sandra Dodd Continuing Education Scholarships

Varying amounts. Awarded to students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Prior scholarship winners are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • College student with sophomore or higher standing who has gained full acceptance into a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Program
  • Letter of endorsement from the Nursing Program dean or another official
  • One additional letter of recommendation
  • College transcript with GPA
  • Essay

Cook and Price Mature Student Scholarships

$1,000 each. Awarded to mature nursing students in two-year or four-year programs. To be eligible applicants must have been accepted into a nursing program.

Requirements

  • Acceptance to an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree Program in Nursing
  • Completed application
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Transcript of prior academic work with GPA (if available)
  • Expected date of graduation
  • Essay

Auxiliary Volunteers Memorial Scholarship

$3,000 One scholarship will be awarded each year. No separate application is needed. The scholarship committee will select the recipient from the applications to the different scholarships.

Application FAQ

What if I turn in an incomplete application or miss the deadline?

Unfortunately, incomplete applications will be discarded. Any application received after the deadline cannot be considered for a scholarship.

Am I eligible?

Only students planning degrees that to becoming a registered nurses are eligible. Preference is given to prior scholarship winners for the continuing education scholarships and employees of Lexington Medical Center for the Cook/Price Mature Student scholarships.

What if I’m waiting for a college acceptance letter?

If you are waiting for an acceptance letter and cannot meet the deadline, contact the scholarship chairperson for instructions. Call the volunteer office at (803) 791-2573 for contact information.
