Auxiliary Nursing Scholarships
Lexington Medical Center Auxiliary is accepting applications for those receiving their nursing education at a variety of levels.
How to Apply
Applications are available at the Volunteer Office at Lexington Medical Center, High School Guidance Offices, and through Health Occupation teachers, as well as online.
Deadline
Applications are due on March 15, 2012, completed.
Requirements and Who Should Apply
Medhurst/Norton/Telfer Scholarships
$2,000.00 Each
Awarded to high school seniors who attend Lexington County Schools, and plan to earn a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.*
- High school senior* residing in Lexington County who has been accepted into a Baccalaureate Degree Program in Nursing
- Completed application
- Two letters of recommendation
- Essay
- High school transcript with GPA, class rank, and SAT or ACT Scores
* Home School, Charter School, Private School, Virtual School Seniors who reside in Lexington County may apply.
Ann Bethea Scholarships
$1,000.00 Each
Awarded to high school seniors who attend Lexington County Schools, and plan to earn an Associate Degree in Nursing.*
- High school senior* residing in Lexington County who has been accepted into an Associate Degree Program in Nursing
- Completed application
- Two letters of recommendation
- Essay
- High school transcript with GPA, class rank, and SAT or ACT Scores
* Home School, Charter School, Private School, Virtual School Seniors who reside in Lexington County may apply.
Sandra Dodd Continuing Education Scholarships
Amounts vary
Awarded to students pursuing Baccalaureate Degrees in Nursing. Prior scholarship winners are encouraged to apply.
- College student with sophomore or higher standing who has gained full acceptance into a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Program
- Letter of endorsement from the Dean or Other Official of the Nursing Program
- One additional letter of recommendation
- College transcript with GPA
- Essay
Cook/Price Mature Student Scholarships
$1,000.00 Each
Awarded to mature nursing students in two-year or four-year programs. To be eligible applicants must have been accepted into a nursing program.
- Acceptance to an Associate or Baccalaureate Program in Nursing
- Completed application
- Two letters of recommendation
- Transcript of prior academic work with GPA (if available)
- Expected date of graduation
- Essay
Auxiliary Volunteers Memorial Scholarship
$3,000.00
One scholarship will be awarded each year. No separate application is needed. The scholarship committee will select the recipient from the applications to the different scholarships.
Important Information About Applying
Incomplete or Late Applications
- Incomplete applications will be discarded.
- Late applications cannot be considered for scholarships.
Eligibility
Only students planning a degree leading to becoming a registered nurse are eligible. Preference will be given to prior scholarship winners for the continuing education scholarships and employees of Lexington Medical Center for the Cook/Price Mature student scholarships.
