Brian W. Johnson, MD, graduated with an undergraduate degree in biology at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. He also completed his post baccalaureate education and earned his medical degree at the university. After completing his residency, he served as an academic hospitalist and staff internal medicine physician at William Jennings Bryan Dorn Veterans Hospital in Columbia.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Johnson has served as an attending teaching physician for internal medicine residents in Columbia and in Blacksburg, Virginia. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Heart Association and the South Carolina Medical Association. Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Johnson has additional certifications in basic and advanced cardiac life support. He is also currently researching the difference between betrixaban and Lovenox® for prevention of venous thromboembolism.
