Serving Our Community

We strive to make our community a better place by filling important needs that contribute to people’s wellness, peace of mind and dignity.

Cancer Care

The Lexington Medical Center Foundation supports many areas of cancer care at Lexington Medical Center including purchasing vital medications and supplies for patients who cannot afford them and providing emergency assistance for other living expenses, enabling patients to concentrate on the most important priority-winning their fight against cancer. The Foundation also supports preventative programs such as the Mobile Mammography Van, post-surgical kits for mastectomy patients and Becky’s Place, which offers wigs and other prostheses. As a strong partner for patients, the Foundation helps them during their most difficult moments.

Women of Hope

Women of Hope is an exciting new project of the Lexington Medical Center Foundation which is bringing women together to make an impact on the health of our community. Women of Hope is open to all women throughout the Midlands who desire to give of themselves for the health of others by reaching out to patients in need and providing outreach into the community. Women of Hope holds special events and networking opportunities throughout the year which build community among members and raise awareness of critical health issues impacting women and their families.

Becky's Place

This Resource Center is designed as a boutique specializing in products and services for women with cancer. Foundation gifts have been used to establish the Rebecca W. Johnson Resource Center and Becky's Place.

Doula Program

The Foundation continues to fund this nationally recognized program that assists mothers in the delivery process. This holistic approach to childbirth has helped many expectant mothers have deliveries that are as smooth and trouble-free as possible.

Mama Sue's Garden

The Foundation provided funding for the design and construction of a memorial garden. Today its brick walkways, benches, fountain and foliage provide a beautiful place of respite and reflection for our Extended Care residents. This garden exists today because of a generous lead gift from the Spires family.

Partner Program - Internship

Every summer, over 60 of Lexington County's brightest high school students participate in our Foundation-funded Partners Program, an internship that exposes them to both the rigors and the rewards of a career in the healthcare field.

Project Prescription

When the employees of Lexington Medical Center saw patients leaving the hospital without means of paying for their medications, they opened their hearts and their pocketbooks, and created Project Prescription.

Women's Mobile Imaging Unit

For more than a decade this 41-foot mobile imaging unit has made possible early detection of breast cancer and osteoporosis for a great number of Midlands-area women. While another unit will now support this program, it became a reality thanks to the Foundation's inaugural gift of more than $100,000.
