The Late Governor Carroll Campbell Reveals Diagnosis of Alzheimer’s

In the fall of 2001, Governor Carroll Campbell, revealed to the citizens of South Carolina that he had been diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Upon revealing his medical condition, Campbell exhibited the same personal tenacity and heroic demeanor that made him such a stalwart leader for our state.

Named in His Honor

Lexington Medical Center is truly honored that such a prestigious South Carolinian as Governor Carroll Campbell agreed to lend his name to the Alzheimer’s care center. It is in the spirit of this courageous leader that Lexington Medical Center dedicates its facility to treat Alzheimer’s disease with compassion, care and most importantly, with an eye toward enhanced treatment.
