You don’t have to go it alone.

You’re a new mother and it’s time to take your baby home. You’re worried and you aren’t sure that you know what to do. You’re wondering if your mother’s or grandmother’s advice from 30 years ago is still valid. You’re tired, emotional and perhaps more than just a little scared. What you are going through is similar to what most new mothers experience. But you don’t have to go through it alone. Our postpartum doula service helps you get through those first weeks. You can feel more confident about caring for your new baby at home with our doula support, which enables a smoother adjustment to parenthood.

In-home Assistance

Doulas work with each mother to determine the type of care that would most benefit her needs and those of her family. Doula care is provided in the mother’s home, and the schedule is set by the mother and doula, in 4-hour increments.

We recommend that new moms consider eight to 10 hours total of doula interaction to help you enjoy getting to know your new baby. While this flexible program does require a small fee, Lexington Medical Center encourages friends and families to purchase time in the program as a gift to new mothers.

With the help of a doula, you can enjoy getting to know your baby and shaping your new role as a parent. Instead of a stressful, anxious time, the doula can ensure that bringing your baby home is truly a special event.
