Parenthood comes with many surprises. Educating yourself about what’s to come is an excellent way to prepare for this new phase of life. We offer a variety of interesting and informative classes that can help you prepare for pregnancy, labor and delivery and life with a newborn.
Birth Center Tours
Come see our state-of-the-art Birth Center and meet our staff. A tour is included in the “Your Special Delivery” class.

Your Special Delivery
This class, taught by certified childbirth educators, is designed to prepare you for the childbirth experience. Topics include managing the discomforts of pregnancy, the labor and birth process, medical procedures and comfort measures.

This class prepares children ages 3-10 what to expect when their new sibling arrives. Children watch a short video, tour the nursery and learn how to hold a new baby through “doll play”.

Caring for You & Your Baby
Expectant parents will learn the basics of caring for the new mother and their baby after delivery. Topics covered include newborn characteristics, bathing and feeding the newborn and what to expect as a new mother.
Learn the advantages of breastfeeding your baby.
Lower Level Classroom 2
Infant/Child CPR Class
Learn to perform infant and child CPR, how to respond to choking and discuss related safety issues for infants or children.
Lexington Medical Center now offers Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association training classes for people interested in becoming hospital-based doulas. Hospital-based doulas are specifically trained to offer comfort and support to mothers and their families as they bring their babies into the world. They also work with other hospital staff to ensure a positive birth experience for expectant parents.
