Special Care for Moms and Babies
Safety & Security
We’re committed to the highest standards of security and safety for you and your baby.
All infants are given security (code alert) bracelets soon after they're born.
In addition to our routine hospital security, this added measure of protection gives new parents peace of mind that their baby is safe and sound.
Advanced Care for Special Circumstances
While most births at Lexington Medical Center are routine, we’re fully prepared for deliveries that require special attention, with the latest technologies and techniques in place for the best possible outcome.
When Births are not Routine
Any intervention by other medical staff will be discussed with you and your support person so that you participate in the decision-making and are fully informed and comfortable with any steps to be taken to ensure your and your baby’s health.
Caesarean Sections
As part of your pre-birth hospital tour, you will be shown where the Caesarean sections take place, convenient to the waiting room and nursery so that your family and visitors can welcome your new arrival soon after the birth.
If a Caesarean section is advised, the delivery cannot be videotaped. The baby, however, may be videotaped after the birth, if approved.
Special Care Nursery
Our Special Care Nursery, located close to our labor and delivery unit, is designed for newborns who need special care and attention.
