Special Care and Attention

Our Special Care Nursery, located close to our labor and delivery unit, is designed for newborns who need special care and attention. These needs may include special bassinets with equipment that assists the baby with breathing, body temperature or other vulnerabilities.

Answering Your Questions

Our expert staff is glad to explain any equipment used to help your baby gain strength to return home, and will demonstrate how best to be involved in your baby’s care while in this nursery.

Most importantly, if your newborn is in our Special Care Nursery, we expect you to have questions — our nursery staff is eager to explain what steps and procedures are being taken, as well as why, so that you can be confident that your baby is in loving and expert hands.

Kangaroo Care

Medical studies have proven that human touch is vitally important to a child's well-being. Our Kangaroo Care program allows parents and premature babies to develop a bond by sharing loving, healing contact. Our Special Care Nursery even has private family rooms — comfortable places for you to relax while you visit and feed your baby.

Support Services

If your baby requires additional health care services when you leave the hospital, our nursing staff will work with you to arrange any special services you may need through either our medical resources or those available through community and other health care organizations.
