Outpatient Cancer Care
See Also: Inpatient Care
Inpatient services require overnight hospital stays. Our Inpatient Oncology Unit is staffed by 64 dedicated staff members, including 12 who are board certified in Oncology.
Our Outpatient Services
Outpatient services are provided for patients returning home the same day as the procedure or treatment is performed.
Where is Treatment Provided?
Our Outpatient services are provided by similarly qualified staff located at Medical Day Care, Radiation Oncology, Infusion Center and Lexington Medical Center-affiliated physicians and practices. Medical Day Care is staffed by three registered nurses, two of whom are board certified in oncology; all are hospital certified in chemotherapy administration.
Medical Day Care – Hours and Appointments
Medical Day Care is able to meet many Outpatient needs. The department is open from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Patients are seen by appointment. All patient care is individualized and followed up by phone after discharge.
Supportive Care
Supportive care can be given in Medical Day Care, such as blood administration, colony stimulating factors, hydration and bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures. Patients are also recovered from various biopsies that require conscious sedation.
Infusion Center
The Infusion Center provides continuity of care in a positive, supportive environment staffed by registered nurses who routinely administer blood products, chemotherapy and other agents.
Coordinating Care with Other Departments
The Cancer Care Center also benefits and appreciates the services of ancillary departments such as Outpatient Services, the Breast Health Coordinator and the Lymphedema Program which offer services and programs for the inpatient population also.
