On the Forefront
We are fully committed to supporting research initiatives that contribute to treatments and solutions in cancer care. Several initiatives are in place that promise ongoing benefits to our Oncology patients and others. Involvement in such research places us on the leading edge to receive the latest information and results, so that we stay at the forefront of current methodologies, procedures and treatments.
Tissue Banking Program and Cancer Genetics Research
The tissue banking program gives patients the opportunity to donate tissue for medical research. Banked tissue is tissue that would have normally been discarded and is used in research about diseases such as cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s.
Our tissue banking program began in July 2007, receiving enthusiastic support from patients with a 98 percent participation rate. In 2010, the program remains popular among patients and staff.
