    Our 388-bed Lexington Medical Center Extended Care is the largest skilled nursing facility in South Carolina. As part of the Lexington Medical Center system, Extended Care residents have access to all hospital facilities and services including a wide range of advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities, and a wealth of professional medical expertise. In addition to offering patients a warm, homelike environment, on-site rehabilitation services help many patients return home and regain their independence.

    As part of Lexington Medical Center, Extended Care residents have access to hospital facilities and services including advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities and a wealth of professional medical expertise.

    Our attending physicians are board-certified internists who are very involved in daily care. Physicians make morning rounds each weekday to see all residents requiring a physician’s attention.

    Rehabilitation Therapy

    Lexington Medical Center Extended Care is known for excellent nursing care and homelike surroundings. In addition, on-site rehabilitation services help residents recover from illness or injury, and return home to regain a more independent lifestyle.

    Physical Therapy

    Therapeutic treatments, which help alleviate pain and restore function, include exercise, hot packs, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, transfer training, balance and gait training, and whirlpool.

    Respiratory Therapy

    After an initial evaluation, respiratory therapy treatments can include aerosol medications, oxygen therapy, breath retraining exercises, relaxation techniques and stress management.

    Speech Therapy

    Communication and dysphagia therapy can also include assistance with redevelopment of cognitive skills including memory, orientation, reasoning and problem solving.

    Restorative Nursing

    This critical therapy focuses on improving a patient’s overall quality of life, including self-esteem, appetite stimulation, socialization, flexibility, mobility, pain and prevention of joint contraction.
