Local Hearts Now Have Access To World-Class Expertise
A critical part of our complete heart care program is the ability to perform open heart surgery. During the intricate surgery, a cardiothoracic surgeon opens the chest to repair heart muscle, valves, arteries or other heart structures.
Today there are many surgical treatments for heart problems. Some of the most common are:
- Atrial Fibrillation Surgery
- Atrial and Ventricular Septal Defect Closure
- Aortic Valve Replacement
- Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery (CABG)
- Mitral Valve Repair and Replacement
- Ascending and Thoracic Aneurysm Repair
The Heart Center is under the leadership of Dr. Jeffrey Travis, a board certified general and heart surgeon. Dr. Travis has more than 14 years of experience and has performed more than 750 open heart surgeries since graduating cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.
