Carrying Out Your Treatment Plan
From the moment you begin therapy, you're under the professional care of your Radiation team. Your Radiation Oncologist leads the team in evaluating your condition and carrying out your treatment plan.
Radiation Oncologist
Radiation Oncologists are physicians who specialize in the use of radiation to treat cancer. They also develop and oversee your treatment plan and follow-up care.
Chief Radiation Therapist
The Chief Radiation Therapist manages staff and oversees the daily operation of the department.
Radiation Therapists
Radiation Therapists play a number of roles in your treatment process, including:
- seeing you daily and monitoring your general progress and well-being
- performing simulations with the physician to ensure that the treatment volume is accurate and reproducible
- reproducing the physician’s prescription
- positioning you before each treatment
- educating patients regarding treatment delivery
- acting as a liaison for the doctor and nurse
Radiation Medicine Nurses
Radiation Medicine Nurses assist in counseling and procedures, and are eager to answer your questions as well as advise you on what to expect and how to participate in your treatment for the best possible outcome.
Radiation Medicine Physicist
The Radiation Medicine Physicist calibrates the treatment machines to ensure that the dose is delivered accurately and reflects the physician's prescription.
Junior Physicists
Junior Physicists perform machine checks and quality assurance under the direction of the Radiation Medicine Physicist. They are also involved in customizing the radiation beams to conform to the plan of the Radiation Oncologist.
Dosimetrist
Under the guidance of the Radiation Oncologist, the Dosimetrist devises a computerized treatment plan unique to each patient, expertly calculating radiation doses to specific target sites within the body.
Radiation Medicine Network Supervisor
The Network Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the department's information systems, including analyzing, programming, testing, implementing and auditing all applications for network connectivity.
Quality Reviewers
The Quality Reviewer monitors and manages records, accounts and charges.
Radiation Medicine Business Manager
The Business Manager provides assistance with your billing and payment questions.
Radiation Medicine Transcriptionist
The Transcriptionist provides transcriptions and reports to your physician.
Radiation Medicine Administrative Assistant
Often the first people you see when you arrive for treatment, the Administrative Assistants are trained to direct your questions to the right team member.
