Sharing Images Speeds Diagnosis

The Radiology department utilizes a Picture Archiving & Communications System (PACS) to view and “read” the images taken during your test. Once the image has been acquired, it is delivered to a workstation manned by a Radiologist who will study the exam by looking at the images and are able to add arrows to the images to highlight points of interest.

The Radiologist will then dictate a results report. Once the report is transcribed, a copy of that report will be sent to your physician.

Image Accessed Through PACS

The PACS system also allows your referring physician to access the image and the Radiologist’s report simultaneously on any computer in their office. This gives your physician more information, enabling them to make a more accurate diagnosis.

Test Results

Your physician’s office will then contact you with the results. You can request films of your study by calling the Radiology department at (803) 791-2460.
