Angiography & Vascular Interventional Support & Testing
Lexington Medical Center’s Interventional Radiology works closely with our vascular surgery and general surgery services to provide 24-hour comprehensive angiography and vascular interventional support and testing to patients in the hospital and emergency room. Our Interventional Radiology section boasts a fellowship-trained vascular/interventional Radiologist as well as a fellowship-trained Neuroradiologist.
State-Of-The-Art Phillips v4000 Angio Unit
Our state-of-the-art Phillips v4000 angio unit is the only unit in Columbia with a “stepping” table used in lower extremity runoffs.
Traditional Procedures & Carotid Arteriography
We are fully equipped to perform traditional procedures such as abdominal aortography with lower extremity runoff for patients with claudication or aortic aneurysms, and carotid arteriography for the evaluation of carotid artery stenosis.
Vascular Intervention
Vascular intervention such as angioplasty and stenting is often performed at the same time as the diagnostic study and after consultation with the referring physician.
Oncological Interventions
Oncological interventions such as hepatic chemo-embolization and radiofrequency ablation, uterine artery embolization as an alternative to hysterectomy for the treatment of uterine fibroids, vertebroplasty to treat painful spine compression fractures and vascular access such as PICC lines are available. These tests are minimally invasive procedures done through small punctures in the skin, allowing for shorter recovery times.
Specialized Recovery Area (ROCU)
We have a specialized recovery area known as “ROCU” to monitor our patients after procedures.
