Annual Exams

You'll see your usual OB/GYN provider each year for a wellness and preventive care exam.

Well Woman Physical Exams

Your doctor will check your height, weight and blood pressure.

Pap Test or Pap Smear

Detects signs of cervical cancer. Get a Pap test every three years starting at age 21. If you have abnormal results, you should have another Pap test the following year.

Breast Exam

Your doctor will examine your breasts for any lumps or abnormalities.

Contraceptive Options

Full range of birth control options, including IUDs.

HPV Vaccines

Recommended for women under 26 and as young as 11 to protect against cervical cancer.

Adolescent Gynecology

Starting between ages 13 and 15.

During this procedure, a needle is used to remove fluid from painful breast cysts.

Uterine & Cervical Abnormalities

Abnormal Pap & Cervical Results

Your physician may perform a colposcopy to closely examine your cervix and pelvic tissues for signs of abnormalities. He or she may take a small amount of tissue to be tested.

Treatments

If your physician finds abnormalities with your cervix or pelvic tissue, he or she may perform a procedure to remove the abnormal cells or tissue.

  • LEEP, using a small electrical wire to remove the abnormal cells
  • Cryosurgery, freezing the abnormal tissue

Menstrual Disorder Management

Your physician will work with you to diagnose the cause of your menstrual disorder and help you determine the best course of treatment.

Abnormal Bleeding

Your physician may perform one of a few procedures to determine and treat the cause of the bleeding:

  • Gynecological Ultrasonography, taking an ultrasound of your pelvic organs
  • Hydrohysterosonogram, taking an ultrasound of your uterus
  • Hysteroscopy D&C, removing abnormal or problematic tissue from the uterus
  • Endometrial Ablation, non-surgical removal of the uterine lining

Fibroid Management

Fibroids are usually diagnosed during your annual exam and can be managed non-surgically or through surgical removal.

Incontinence & Frequent Urination

Urine Tests

Can detect urinary tract infections, bladder infections and kidney infections.

Menopause Management

When to get a bone density scan?

After age 65, women should have their bone density evaluated.

Colonoscopies

When to get a colonoscopy?

Women should have their first test at age 50 and repeat every ten years. Tests should be conducted more regularly if you receive abnormal results.

If you have a family history of colon cancer, you should start testing at ten years younger than the age your family member was when diagnosed.
