Dr. Guy A. Calvert, Jr (Deceased)
A Columbia, S.C. native, he was the original pathologist and departmental founder in 1971. A chief of staff and hospital leader, he died in 1987. His primary drive to meet physician and patient needs continues as the bedrock of departmental policy.

Dr. Ervin Shaw
A Sumter, S.C. native, he has been on the LMC medical staff since 1975, his entire career. A Citadel graduate, his medical training was all at MUSC. President, Pathology Associates of Lexington, (P.A.L.), Co-Director of LMC Laboratory since 1988, and Director of Anatomic Pathology since 1984. Pathologist Supervisor of Surgical Pathology.
Is Clinical Associate Professor of Pathology at the USC Medical School. LMC Credentials Committee member since 10/76 and Chairman, 10/78-11/82, 10/84 to present. President of Lexington Medical Laboratories (LML). Former lab inspector, College of American Pathologists. He is our current medical staff section chief.  Visit Dr. Shaw's Web Site.

Dr. John Carter
A Nebraskan, he has been on the LMC medical staff since 1984, a pathologist since 1973. An early medical school admission from the Air Force Academy, his training was at the University of Minnesota, at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, followed by a year at the University of Amsterdam.
Vice-President of Pathology Associates of Lexington (P.A.L.), Co-Director of LMC Laboratory since 1988 and Director of Clinical Labs since 1984. Pathologist supervisor of clinical lab operations and accreditation, lab client services, lab information systems (LIS), chemistry, blood gas analysis, lab outreach services, lab central processing, specimen procurement services, 2nd and 3rd shifts, and Quality Assurance efforts. Clinical Professor of Pathology at the USC Medical School and pathology course lecturer for medical students at USC. He and Mrs. Carter were ASCP/CAP national annual-meeting course directors and instructors in auto-immune and infectious disease serological testing from 1979-1989. Vice-President and Director of Lexington Medical Labs. Currently on Medical Executive Committee (Chair of Hospital Physician Services. Dept. of the Medical Staff) and Ethics Committee and the LMC Foundation Board.

Dr. Kitt McMaster
A native of Winnsboro, S.C. he has been on the LMC medical staff since 1988, a pathologist since 1984. A Wofford graduate, his medical training was at MUSC and Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, followed by a hematopathology fellowship at UNC Chapel Hill, and surgical pathology fellowship at
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York. Pathologist Supervisor for Microbiology Section; Chairman of LMC's Infection Control efforts since March 1990; LMC Employee Health Physician October 1992 to June 2003.

Dr. Beverly Daniel
A native of Georgetown, S.C. she has been on the LMC medical staff since 1989, her entire career. A Columbia College graduate and former medical technologist. Her medical training, including a cytopathology fellowship, was at MUSC. Pathologist Supervisor to LMC’s Cytology Section and Blood Bank Section.
Clinical Associate Professor of Pathology at USC Medical School and an annual pathology course lecturer for medical students at USC. Has been active on the LMC Quality Assurance Committee since October 1994. Chairman of the LMC Institutional Review Board since October 1992. She is our current medical staff section Vice Chief and Quality Assurance leader.

Dr. Jayne Moffatt
A Tennessean, she has been on the LMC medical staff since March, 1998, and a  pathologist since 1995. She joined (P.A.L.) in March, 1998 as an independent contractor, becoming a group member February, 1999. A graduate of East Tennessee State University, with subsequent masters in
Pharmacology, she obtained her formal medical education there. She completed a pathology residency and cytopathology fellowship at Duke, being subspecialty certified in cytopathology. 

Dr. Karen Xu
A native of Shangai, China, she  has been on the LMC medical staff since March 1999, and a pathologist since 1998. Dr. Karen Xu (Xu is pronounced "shoe") joined (P.A.L.) in March, 1999 as an independent contractor. A graduate of Shangai
University, she completed her doctorate at the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, also completing a postdoctoral fellowship in their Sealy Center for Molecular Biology. Her father and mother are retired pathologists in Shangai. Her pathology residency was at the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Brunswick, N.J. Karen became a group member January 2000.

Dr. Will Armstrong
A Michiganian, he has been on the LMC medical staff as a group member since January, 2001. Pathologist Supervisor for Hematology Section. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School and residency program in pathology.
He spent two years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He had worked at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital since 1978, primarily as a hematopathologist. He is board certified in the field of hematopathology, with special interests in hypercoagulable states, lymphoma and leukemia diagnosis, and extra-nodal lymphoid disorders. He is Clinical Professor of Pathology at the USC Medical School, and was Adjunct Professor of Law in USC's School of Law from 1986-1999. He has given numerous continuing education courses in hematology and coagulation for the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

Dr. Rob Jones
Born in Washington, D.C., he has paternal & maternal ties to South Carolina. An South Carolina State and MUSC graduate, he initially entered the military as a New York trained surgeon. He served in the Navy as a Chief Medical Officer and in the Marines as the Assistant Chief Medical Officer at the
 Marine Corps recruit depot. He then took his pathology residency at St. Vincent's in Manhattan and his fellowship in Surgical Pathology at Tisch University Hospital and Bellevue (New York University). He has been in the practice of pathology in New York since 1997 and has been an inspector of labs for the College of American Pathologists since 1996. Dr. Jones joined the LMC pathology group in January 2008.

  Dr. Paula Anderson
Born in Vicenza Italy, she was in a military family and grew up in Colorado and will be joining the LMC Medical Staff in early June 2008. An Arizona State University Graduate, she obtained her medical degree at the University of Texas - Houston. After her Pathology Residency at New York and Presbyterian Hospital, Cornell, she obtained her Cytopathology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine followed by a Breast Pathology Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas. Then she worked two years in a large GI pathology lab.
