When You're Ready
You've put a great deal of thought into this decision. Whether you're in the beginning of your journey or have dealt with the challenges for some time, you are at a point where you are ready for a change, a real change. The Lexington Weight Management Center will help you through this change with options that are right for you. Our program will provide you with the tools you need to make your transformation a lasting one. Being overweight has serious health, lifestyle and productivity consequences. Diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and arthritis can dramatically improve with weight loss. After losing weight, people are more active, feel less tired, and are more productive at work and at home. The Lexington Weight Management Center offers a comprehensive approach to weight loss and health improvement.

Nutrition Guidance
Whether you follow a weight-loss management plan or pursue a surgical option, your nutrition will be tailored to your specific needs. Our nutritionists at Lexington Medical Center have worked with the physicians to develop a specific program for our patients with an individualized diet plan. You will also receive instruction in understanding nutritional information and guidance on making proper food choices and portion sizes as well as learning how to plan appropriate menus. Due to nutritional requirements, you may also receive recommendations for supplements.

Exercise Programs
As with any weight-loss program, exercise will play a key role in the success of the program. At Lexington Medical Center, we offer Health Directions, a health and wellness program that will be an integral part of your weight-loss plan. The fitness experts at Health Directions will work with your physicians to create a personal exercise plan to maximize your success in your weight-loss goals.

Behavior Modification
Losing significant amounts of weight requires a lifetime commitment. The Lexington Weight Management Center will provide the support you need throughout the process to address the changes you will need to make in your lifestyle and your eating habits. Part of the success in making these changes takes an understanding of the motivation for your particular eating habits.

Support & Counseling
Losing weight and staying committed can be challenging. You will face days where knowing that you have the support of others will be significant to your success. Our program will provide you the counseling and support that you need to help you work through any issues that may arise on your journey.

For those patients considering weight-loss surgery, you will meet with a psychologist to assist in determining if you are a candidate for this program. If you are currently working with a psychologist/psychiatrist, the doctors at the South Carolina Obesity Surgery Center will contact them and discuss the approval procedure. And as you lose the weight, we provide support groups that allow you to talk with others who have been down the same road you are now traveling.

Physicians & Staff
Our multi-disciplinary team features specialists in Bariatric (weight loss) medicine, nutrition, behavior modification, exercise therapy and surgery who are dedicated to creating the most effective program for each of our patients. Our primary physician is board certified in Internal Medicine, specializing in Bariatrics and will be able to create an overall weight loss strategy including prescription weight loss medications if necessary. You will be monitored closely for weight loss, changes in blood pressure and diabetes, and any necessary adjustments for your program. Should you and your physician determine that Bariatric surgery might be a solution for you, the South Carolina Obesity Surgery Center has the most experienced physicians in the state. The South Carolina Obesity Surgery Center is regarded as one of the top ten programs in the country and has been certified as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery.
