Lexington Medical Center Holds Close Lead in Votes
for “Pink Glove Dance” Video Contest
West Columbia, S.C. – With one day of voting left, Lexington Medical Center holds a very close lead in a national video competition called the “Pink Glove Dance” designed to raise awareness about breast cancer. Hundreds of Lexington Medical Center employees including several breast cancer survivors gathered on the hospital campus to dance in pink gloves for the contest. The organization with the winning video in the contest will receive $10,000 to donate to a breast cancer charity of its choice. We need your help to win!
As of Thursday, October 20th, Lexington Medical Center’s video had more than 52,000 votes, with its closest competitor, a hospital in Rochester, New York, trailing close behind. Lexington Medical Center is the only hospital in South Carolina in the competition.

LexingtonMedical Center’s video has become a “healthy” viral phenomenon, with more than 100,000 You Tube views. It features real hospital employees, some of whom are breast cancer survivors themselves. It is both inspiring and uplifting.
In the video, Lexington Medical Center employees and cancer survivors danced to a choreographed routine to the Katy Perry song “Firework.” They wore pink gloves and waved pink glow sticks. In addition, clinicians and staff from around the hospital danced in their departments.
The original Pink Glove Dance video premiered in 2009 in Portland, Oregon with hospital workers wearing pink gloves and dancing in support of breast cancer awareness. That video received more than 13 million You Tube views and spawned hundreds of pink glove dance videos across the country. Additionally, the dance has been featured on national television news programs.
