Lexington Medical Center Website Wins National Honors

West Columbia, S.C. – Lexington Medical Center’s website, www.lexmed.com, has won several prestigious national awards for design and content. Launched in November, 2009, the newly designed www.lexmed.com allows visitors to easily navigate their way to doctors, newborn baby photos, health information, events, classes and more. The website receives more than 50,000 hits per month.
The hospital website has been recognized with a 2011 Gold W3 Award for best redesign of a hospital website. The W3 Awards are a national competition honoring creative excellence on the web and recognizing the professionals behind award winning sites and programs.
The W3 Awards are judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts, an invitation-only body of top tier professionals in media, interactive advertising and marketing. Members include executives from organizations including Conde Nast, Disney, Microsoft, MTV and Yahoo! The other winner in the best redesign category was Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
This month, representatives from Lexington Medical Center traveled to Orlando, Florida where they received three silver awards in the national Strategic Health Care Communications 2011 Web Awards for Best Health Content, Best Site Design and Best Web 2.0. Keeping good company, other winners included Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Massachusetts, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina and Children’s Hospital of Colorado.

In November 2011, Lexington Medical Center launched LMC Mobile, the mobile version of the website, recognizing that nearly 73 million people access the web with a mobile browser. In addition, the hospital has seen an 8,203% increase in the number of people accessing www.lexmed.com from a mobile site. You can view LMC Mobile from any smart phone.
