LMC Announces Opening of Sandhills Women’s Care

West Columbia, S.C. – Lexington Medical Center is pleased to announce the opening of Sandhills Women’s Care, a new physician practice that’s part of the hospital’s network of care.  Douglas Addy, MD, Thomas Austin, MD, and Crystal Johnson, MD, will practice at Sandhills Women’s Care in two locations in Northeast Columbia and West Columbia.

Formerly known as Providence Women’s Health, Sandhills Women’s Care will provide a full range of obstetric and gynecology services to women in the Midlands including routine and high risk obstetrics, 3D and 4D ultrasounds, well woman preventive exams and advanced laparoscopic surgery.

Douglas Addy, MD comes to Lexington Medical Center from St. Augustine Health in Columbia where he was the medical director.  Dr. Addy has also worked as a staff physician at Southern Pines Women’s Health Center in North Carolina.  He received his doctorate in medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.  Dr. Addy completed his residency at Palmetto Health in Columbia.  He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in American Literature from the University of South Carolina.  He is a Junior Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the South Carolina Medical Association and South Carolina OB/Gyn Society. 

Before coming to Lexington Medical Center, Thomas Austin, MD worked at Providence Women’s Health in Columbia.  He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.  Dr. Austin received his medical degree at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia and completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.  He has an undergraduate degree from Furman University in Greenville.  Dr. Austin is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  He also serves on the board of Daybreak Crisis Pregnancy Center.  

Crystal Johnson, MD, joins Lexington Medical Center from Providence Women’s Health in Columbia.  Dr. Johnson received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Hampton University in Virginia.  She graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas at Houston Memorial Hermann Hospital.  She is a member of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Columbia Medical Society, and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
