RUN FASTER: Lexington Medical Center Governor’s Cup Road Race 2010

West Columbia, S.C. – Lexington Medical Center is pleased to be the title sponsor of the Governor’s Cup Road Race in Columbia, scheduled for November 13, 2010. For the first time in the race’s 38 year history, a portion of proceeds will benefit Eat Smart, Move More South Carolina, an organization dedicated to obesity prevention and nutritional education initiatives.

The Lexington Medical Center Governor’s Cup Road Race includes a half marathon, an 8K run, a 4-mile walk and kid’s fun run. The race begins at the front of the South Carolina State House at the corner of Main and Gervais Streets in Columbia and ends at the University of South Carolina Horseshoe at Sumter and College Streets. The course is sanctioned by USA Track & Field and is part of the Palmetto Grand Prix and Tour de Columbia. The Lexington Medical Center Governor’s Cup Road Race is organized by the Carolina Marathon Association, www.carolinamarathon.org.

In addition, there are details about the race’s Kids Cup Run & Challenge, Fittest School Challenge and Fittest Company Challenge.

Lexington Medical Center is pleased to be the title sponsor for the Governor’s Cup Road Race and to help to raise money for Eat Smart, Move More South Carolina.

Obesity is a serious health threat facing our children and future generations. Hundreds of people are currently training for the 2010 Lexington Medical Center Governor’s Cup Road Race.
