The Columbia Medical Group Joins Lexington Medical Center

West Columbia, S.C. – Lexington Medical Center is pleased to announce that The Columbia Medical Group is joining the hospital’s physician network.  The practice, which has seven internists and one neurologist, will become part of Lexington Medical Center on June 1, 2011. 

The Columbia Medical Group provides comprehensive medical care for adults including evaluating new problems, caring for chronic diseases, advising on preventive care and providing information about diet and exercise.  Their office is at 4540 Trenholm Road in Forest Acres, creating a new area of care in the Lexington Medical Center network.  The Columbia Medical Group’s physicians are Erik Crook, MD; Edgar DesChamps, MD; Rosa Jiminez, MD; Ruben Mayer, MD; Kim Meadows, MD; Stacie Moore Bowens, MD; Bradley Word, MD; and David Hammett, MD. 

Dr. Erik Crook graduated from the University of South Carolina and the Medical University of South Carolina.  Dr. Edgar Deschamps, Dr. Ruben Mayer and Dr. Kim Meadows graduated from the University of South Carolina and its School of Medicine.  Dr. Rosa Jiminez received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Puerto Rico.  Dr. Stacie Moore-Bowens graduated from the College of Charleston and University of South Carolina School of Medicine.  Dr. Bradley Word graduated from Pittsburg State University in Kansas and received his medical degree from Vanderbilt.  Each is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. David Hammett is the group’s first neurologist.  He received his medical degree at Wake Forest University, completing a fellowship in vascular neurology and his residency at Vanderbilt University.  He specializes in vascular neurology and stroke, memory disorders and dementia, headache disorders, spasticity and movement-based disorders.
