Associate Chaplains
A number of area pastors also volunteer their time as Associate Chaplains to help provide spiritual care to the patients of Lexington Medical Center.
Chaplains

Chaplains are available as sources of comfort and strength intime of need.
Pastoral Care Department
Lexington Medical Center’s Pastoral Care Department is able to offer spiritual support to patients, their loved ones and staff members by having professionally trained and compassionate chaplains available.
Our Associate Chaplain Program has a long and distinguished history of volunteer professional service. LMC Associate Chaplains serve patients, families and employees by making initial contact with new patients; following up with visits to listen, comfort, pray and administer sacraments as needed or requested; and being available for “crisis” ministry at any time.
Visitation & Prayer
Our chaplains are listeners. If a patient or family member is troubled, talking to others can be helpful and healing. As chaplains become aware of needs and concerns, they may provide prayers, helpful brochures and other aids.
Patients and families may request that a chaplain pray with them prior to surgery. Chaplains may also assist if a patient receives information regarding a newly diagnosed illness or disease.
If a patient’s or family’s clergy member is not available, a chaplain can assist family members in their time of grief. If there is a stillborn or death of an infant upon delivery, a chaplain is available to baptize or bless the infant to help parents honor their child.
- A chaplain is on-site Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and on-call at all other times.
- At your request, the chaplain can contact a member of clergy of the patient’s denomination or faith group.
Ministry at Community Medical Centers
An associate chaplain is assigned at each Community Medical Center and LMC satellite facility to provide on-call ministry as needed.
