Staying Informed During Surgery
Smartrack Patient Tracking System
You will receive a card with the patient’s private identification number. This number will appear on the large screen located in the surgical lobby. You will be able to monitor your loved one’s progress as he or she is moved through the perioperative area.
Pagers for Friends and Family
You will receive a lighted pager to help our staff locate you, if needed.
Before Surgery
During the patient's pre-operation check-in procedures, family members or a designated contact person will be given a Smartrack card with an ID number that makes it possible to monitor the patient's progress from the waiting area.
During and Immediately After Surgery
The doctor will find you in the waiting area, and then speak to you in private regarding information pertaining to the procedure. Please stay in the surgical lobby/waiting area until you have spoken with the doctor. If you must leave, we ask that you inform the volunteer or Nurse Liaison.
Post-Operation
The Nurse Liaison will update you from time to time on the patient’s condition while he or she is in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. If the procedure took place after regular hours or the volunteer is away from the desk, please use the phone located at the desk for updates.
