Women's Services

Women are obviously different from men. This is most apparent in fitness and health issues. It’s important for today’s woman to develop an awareness of her body and practice healthy habits in order to prevent illness. You should be proactive in seeking information about bodily changes through the years, disease prevention practices and stress management. That old saying, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," still rings as true for you today as it did for your mother. Luckily, Lexington Medical Center can be your partner in wellness.

When we opened our doors in 1971, we pledged to treat our patients as individuals, and provide the special services necessary for their complete care. This is no more evident than in the area of Women's Services, where Lexington Medical Center has introduced many services to the Midlands.

We were first to offer birthing suites and first to invite fathers to participate in the birthing experience. The first area hospital to feature midwives and Doulas to assist parents during delivery. We also offer a wealth of maternity classes. In addition to our large nursery, our 20-bassinet Special Care nursery nurtures our most delicate newborns. Another first, our Kangaroo Care program, helps mothers bond with their premature infants and encourages faster recoveries. To help parents answer the many questions that arise once they return home, we provide a free educational video at discharge, plus a 24-hour direct line to our nurses.
