Dr. Hugar graduated with his bachelor’s degree in life sciences from The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, and earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. While earning his medical degree, he also earned a master’s degree from Laney Graduate School at Emory University. Dr. Hugar then completed his general surgery internship and urologic surgery residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania. He most recently completed a urologic oncology fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.
Dr. Hugar is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Urological Association and the Society of Urologic Oncology. His research has focused on health care delivery and access to care for patients with urologic cancer, specifically patients with bladder cancer. For this research, Dr. Hugar is recognized nationally as an advocate for incorporating palliative care into urologic care, maximizing both cancer control and quality of life for patients with any stage of urologic cancer.
Dr. Hugar joins the board-certified physicians and advanced practice providers at Lexington Urology to provide comprehensive urologic care and advanced treatments for urologic conditions, including robotic and minimally invasive surgery. This practice combines the most advanced medicine and state-of-the-art technology with compassionate care to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes.
