Bio

Anna Shalkham, MD, MPH, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in environmental sciences and policy from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and received her Doctor of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She then completed her residency in emergency medicine at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in New York City, where she served as its Emergency department’s chief resident. She also earned a Master of Public Health from the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

Dr. Shalkham has a special interest in disaster preparedness, specifically for chemical, biological, radiologic and nuclear events.

She is a member of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and the American College of Emergency Physicians, where she serves in its Disaster Medicine Section. Dr. Shalkham is also board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.  

In addition to her practice, Dr. Shalkham serves as Lexington Medical Center’s chief information officer.
