Bio

Dr. Purohit graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology from the South Carolina Honors College in Columbia and earned his medical degree from Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. After completing his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania, he then completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease and cardiology there with particular focus in cardiac imaging. He went on to complete a fellowship in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation at Aurora-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Triple board certified in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, cardiovascular disease and cardiovascular imaging, Dr. Purohit is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation and the Heart Failure Society of America. He most recently served as a heart failure cardiologist at the Wm. Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia. His clinical interests include advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, mechanical circulatory support, minimally invasive congestive heart failure monitoring technology, and delivery of quality-driven, patient-centric congestive heart failure care.

Dr. Purohit proudly joins the board-certified cardiologists, vascular surgeons, cardiothoracic surgeons and highly skilled staff at Lexington Medical Heart and Vascular Center to provide patients with the highest level of care in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular diseases, as well as collaborate with the center’s vascular surgeons.
