Bio

Dr. Charnes graduated summa cum laude from the College of Charleston in South Carolina and earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He then spent one year as a surgical resident at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York, before changing his specialty to family medicine and completing his residency at Mercer University Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, serving as chief resident.

Board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Charnes is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Society of Hospital Medicine and the South Carolina Medical Association. He has more than 17 years of experience in primary care, palliative care and complex patient management in inpatient and critical-care settings. Most recently, Dr. Charnes provided inpatient care as a hospitalist at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tennessee, after serving as its chief hospitalist for seven years. He also served on several hospital committees at Williamson Medical Center, including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Critical-care, Palliative Care and Case Management/Utilization Review committees, among others, as well as trained medical students and advanced practice providers.
