Dr. Van Zandt graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and completed her medical degree at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport. She then completed her general surgery residency and surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Louisville in Kentucky.
Board certified in surgery and surgical critical care, Dr. Van Zandt is an American College of Surgeons Fellow and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and Phi Beta Kappa. She has additional certifications in advanced cardiac and trauma life support, and advanced surgical skills for exposure in trauma. Dr. Van Zandt recently served as a trauma and acute care surgeon at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a 1,112-bed Level II trauma center where she provided care to surgical patients in the hospital and immediate interventions for acutely ill and injured patients. She also served as an adjunct clinical assistant professor for the Department of Surgery at Oklahoma State University for Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa.
