Dr. Plascencia earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, and completed her medical degree at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, where she was named a Distinguished Medical Student in Psychiatry. She then completed her residency at Prisma Health Midlands in Columbia, South Carolina, gaining experience in the treatment of various mental health disorders, including psychotic disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders and gender dysphoria, among other conditions.
During her residency, Dr. Plascencia also served on the Resident Selection Committee as an interviewer. A member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association, she has experience caring for patients of all ages in outpatient, inpatient and emergency settings.
