Dr. Ferguson graduated magna cum laude from the South Carolina Honors College in Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences. She earned her doctorate degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed her residency at Prisma Health in Columbia, South Carolina, where she served as chief resident.
Dr. Ferguson has volunteered her services to care for patients in Zambia, Kenya and Malawi. While earning her medical degree at USC, she was a founding executive board member of CURE International and served as peer advocate liaison and an Honor Committee member. She also was president of the Association of Women Surgeons and led the Global Medicine Interest Group for the university’s chapters of both programs.
