Recovery

You can take charge of your transition into life after cancer.

Look after your body.

If you're dealing with physical changes, take control and find new ways to care for your body. Keeping healthy can boost your mood and increase your chance of staying cancer-free.

We'll help you:

  • Find a workout plan that's right for you.
  • Stick to an exercise routine.
  • Make a nutrition plan that fits your activity level.

Feel confident.

You can choose to control your appearance. For example, a new wig, skin care routine or outfit can improve your mood and remind you of your worth.

We'll help you:

  • Choose the hair alternatives you like best, including hats, scarves and wigs.
  • Find specialized apparel for your new body.
  • Determine what your insurance will cover.
  • Fit a breast prosthesis.

Quit smoking.

When you're cancer-free, it's important to make sure you stay that way. For those who smoke, quitting is a hard, but necessary part of recovery.

Within three months of quitting:

  • Risk of heart attack drops
  • Lung function improves
  • Shortness of breath decreases
