Stroke Care

Recognized Quality in Stroke Care

According to South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in SC. Something that affects our state that deeply demands a high level of patient care and services.

Don't Drive, Call 9-1-1

Time is of the essence in stroke care. Stroke, which occurs when a blood vessel carrying oxygen and nutrients to the brain is blocked by a clot or bursts, can deprive parts of the brain of blood and oxygen. If someone is experiencing symptoms of stroke, one of the best things you can do is call 9-1-1 instead of driving him or her to a nearby emergency department. Quick treatment can help limit damage to the brain or heart, and increase the chance of a full recovery.

F.A.S.T. is an easy way to remember the sudden signs and symptoms of Stroke. When you can spot the signs, you'll know quickly that you need to call 9-1-1 for help.
