West Columbia, S.C. – Lexington Medical Center is pleased to welcome Jian Chen, MD, PhD, to the hospital’s network of care. Dr. Chen will care for patients at the Lexington Brain and Spine Institute.
Dr. Chen earned his medical/surgical degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, China, and completed his doctorate degree in anatomy/neuroanatomy at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He then completed his neurology residency and his pain medicine fellowship there. A member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Medical Association,
Dr. Chen is board certified in neurology and pain medicine with additional certification in emergency neurological life support. His practice focuses on interventional and electrodiagnostic procedures for chronic neurologic and pain-related diseases including, but not limited to, headache, trigeminal neuralgia, neck pain, back pain, complex regional pain syndrome, peripheral neuropathy and spasticity. He most recently treated patients at NEA Baptist Clinic in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and served as an adjunct clinical instructor for the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Jonesboro.
In addition to his practice, Dr. Chen has participated in educational and clinical research projects, such as co-authoring a leading neuroanatomy textbook, credentialing in a histology textbook and assisting medical students in anatomy courses. Currently, his research focuses on the neural network of the sympathetic nervous system and 3-D reconstruction anatomy.
Dr. Chen proudly joins the board-certified physicians and advanced practice providers at Lexington Brain and Spine Institute to meet the needs of patients who suffer from conditions ranging from acute neck and back pain to spine disorders, as well as other chronic pain conditions.
