West Columbia, S.C. – Lexington Medical Center is pleased to announce that Cooper J. Gunter, MD, has joined Lexington Medical Center Batesburg-Leesville Primary Care, part of the hospital’s network of care.
Dr. Gunter graduated magna cum laude with his bachelor’s degree in biology from Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina, and completed his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine in Bridgetown, Barbados. He then completed his family medicine residency at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, South Carolina.
A Batesburg-Leesville native, Dr. Gunter is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the South Carolina Medical Association. He has certifications in advanced cardiac life support, basic life support and pediatric advanced life support. With 10 years of experience in health care, Dr. Gunter most recently completed his family medicine training, gaining experience in critical care, geriatrics, obstetrics and pediatrics, among other subspecialties, while volunteering to conduct sports physicals in the Greenwood community.
Dr. Gunter joins the board-certified providers and highly skilled staff at Lexington Medical Center Batesburg-Leesville Primary Care to provide comprehensive care for the entire family from birth to geriatrics. In addition to well visits and same-day sick appointments, the facility offers on-site X-rays and laboratory services, as well as echovascular testing, diabetes education and Coumadin® monitoring.
