Lexington Medical Center Welcomes David M. Kopel, MD

West Columbia, S.C. – Lexington Medical Center is pleased to welcome David M. Kopel, MD, to the hospital’s network of care at Southeastern Neurology and Memory Clinic. Dr. Kopel joins the board-certified physicians, advanced practice providers and highly skilled staff at the practice. They provide comprehensive care in the evaluation, monitoring, prevention and treatment of cognitive and general neurologic disorders, such as nervous system inflammatory diseases, Alzheimer’s disease, early and late onset dementia, Parkinson’s disease and affective disorders.

Dr. Kopel graduated summa cum laude as a Coronat scholar from Syracuse University in New York with a bachelor’s degree in biological and medical physics and earned his medical degree from Rutgers University New Jersey Medical School in Newark. He then completed a neurology residency at Boston University Medical Center in Massachusetts and a headache medicine fellowship at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Kopel is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Headache Society. He is also fluent in English and Russian. In addition to providing general neurologic care, Dr. Kopel specializes in treating patients with headache-related issues, including tension headache to migraine, cervicogenic headache, cluster headache and secondary headache after a surgery or traumatic brain injury, among other conditions. He also provides patients with procedural treatments, such as nerve blocks, trigger point injections and Botox®.
