Bidding Is Underway for Special Hootie and the Blowfish Baseball Jerseys

May 18, 2023

West Columbia, S.C. – Right now, community members have the chance to bid on a once-in-a-lifetime Lexington County Blowfish baseball jersey. On Friday, June 16, 2023, Blowfish players will wear specially designed jerseys honoring the world-famous South Carolina band – Hootie and the Blowfish. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Lexington Medical Center Foundation. In addition, Hootie and the Blowfish extended its support by offering to match up to $10,000 in the auction.

The blue and green jerseys have the words “Hooties” printed across the chest – and for one night, the Blowfish will play as the “Hooties.” The jerseys also have a treble clef staff on the back and the team’s standard name, the Blowfish. Two of them will be autographed by all four members of the band.

“Bill and Vicki Shanahan’s commitment to the Lexington Medical Center Foundation allows us to lift burdens from our patients, our employees and our community through powerful and life-saving programs and resources,” said Amy Lanier, executive director of the Lexington Medical Center Foundation. “It is an honor to be a part of “Hooties” night with the Blowfish.”

The Blowfish baseball team was named in honor of the band 18 years ago. The June 16th game is against the Catawba Valley Stars at the Lexington County Baseball Stadium at 7:05 p.m. The jerseys will be auctioned off that night. Bid by visiting https://qtego.net/qlink/blowfishbaseball. Bidding is open now until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023.

The Lexington Medical Center Foundation helps the hospital achieve its mission of providing quality health services that meet the needs of its communities with acquiring innovative technology, enhancing hospital services and providing hope through patient and community programs.
