Thoracic Surgery

Surgical Expertise for Excellent Outcomes

Thoracic surgery helps treat or manage diseases of the chest, lung or esophagus such as lung masses, esophageal cancer, collapsed lung or malignant pleural effusion. Through a variety of procedures, Lexington Medical Center surgeons can address problems or diseases such as lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung failure or esophageal cancer.

With Lexington Medical Center’s Duke Medicine affiliation, Midlands’ patients have access to the most advanced forms of therapy in the United States, all without ever leaving Lexington County.

If you’re preparing for a major surgery like thoracic surgery, you’re bound to have questions and concerns. Your healthcare team will help you get ready and answer your questions all along the way.

Arrival Guide

After Surgery

Recovering from surgery usually begins in the ICU. As you successfully recover, a nursing unit will take charge of monitoring and care. Your surgical team will carefully address progress and the rate of recovery throughout your stay.
